Gavin, a tool designer from Newcastle is about to fulfil a life time’s ambition – to enter the final of ‘Miss International Queen', the Miss World style event for transgender held in Thailand every year. Gavin, or Leah as his alter ego is called, will be the first ever British entrant as Miss England, but she will be up against come stiff competition. Unusually for a contestant, Gavin, has had no surgery and is heterosexual, and will be accompanied on the journey by his girlfriend Sue.

We follow Gavin as he prepares for the competition and see how he transforms from Gavin to Leah. We meet some of the other characters entering the contest from the rest of the World and get an unusual insight into the world of transsexuals and transvestites. It is a journey of acceptance for most of the contestants, and Gavin is no exception as we see him telling his family of his life as Leah for the first time.
