Talent TV′s 'Best of Friends' goes to Africa
March 2005

Talent Television has been commissioned by CBBC to produce a special African version of its hugely successful kids reality entertainment show Best of Friends.

Not content with having tested the friendships of boys and girls from all over the United Kingdom, CBBC presenters Abs and Rani have decided to go to Africa. This special five-part series for the BBC's Africa programming, takes the team on a trip to Cape Town and Johannesburg in March and April.

The half hour shows will feature more ten year olds, taken to task to prove just how much their mates really mean to them. As ever in Best of Friends, the tasks are challenging, but the treats tremendous! Tasks will feature crocodiles, bells, risky biscuits, basketball and much more for the plucky contestants. But on the plus side, the treats include elephants, a beach party extravaganza and even a jaunt in a hot air balloon.

As always the main theme of the programme is that friendship matters, and of course there are plenty of opportunities for the kids to get their own back, when Abs and Rani dare each other to take on tasks.

Annie Miles, Director Talent Kids says: “Best of Friends has become an established, returning favourite with CBBC viewers and we are delighted to have been asked to produce this special series featuring African kids for the BBC's Africa programmes.

Best of Friends is commissioned and executive produced by Anne Gilchrist at CBBC. Annie Miles is executive producer for Talent Television and John Marley is series producer. The show is developed by Jonathan Wolfman from and original idea by Mark Robson. The second series of Best of Friends transmits on the CBBC channel in April.
