This follows the success of the first two UK series and a special series filmed in South Africa which won three of the top ten most watched children's programmes slots for the week it aired in July on BBC One earlier this summer as part of the BBC's 'Africa Week'.This latest series will return to the UK, testing the friendships of boys and girls from all over the country. CBBC presenters Abs and Rani will again front the series of 20 x 30-minute episodes, scheduled for transmission from Autumn next year. The half hour shows will feature more ten year olds, taken to task to prove just how much their mates really mean to them. As ever in 'Best of Friends', the tasks are challenging, but the treats tremendous! Previous series have featured tasks such as tea dances with the grannies, helping at the chiropodists and handling cockroaches. But on the plus side, the treats have a monster truck car crush, a celebrity shopping trip and recording with a pop band. This new series promises to be even more mischievous, putting more pressure than ever on the children's friendships. As always the main theme of the programme is that 'friendship matters', and of course there are plenty of opportunities for the kids to get their own back, when Abs and Rani dare each other to take on tasks.Annie Miles, Director Talent Kids says: “Best of Friends has become a firm favourite with kids and we're delighted that CBBC continues to support what has become an established, returning series.”Best of Friends is commissioned by CBBC Controller Alison Sharman and executive produced for CBBC by Anne Gilchrist. Annie Miles is executive producer for Talent Television and John A. Marley is series producer. The show was developed by Jonathan Wolfman from an original idea by Mark Robson.
