TALENT TELEVISION TAKES A LOOK AT ‘MR MISS WORLD’ FOR CHANNEL 4           March 2007

London, 28 March 2007. Talent Television, a wholly owned subsidiary of Talent Group plc, has been commissioned by Channel 4 to produce a brand new 60-minute documentary ‘Mr Miss World’, as part of the channel’s Sexually Confused Season. This is the latest factual commission for Talent from the broadcaster, following hot on the heels of its acclaimed documentaries ‘911 Millionaire Widows’ and ‘The Man with 80 Wives’ about polygamist Warren Jeffs.

Commissioned by Channel 4’s Commissioning Editor Factual Entertainment, Andrew MacKenzie, this fascinating insight into the transgender Miss World competition will be produced and directed by Andy Wells. Channel 4 International holds international rights to the documentary which will make its debut at MIP-TV in April.

‘Mr Miss World’ follows the runners and riders in the lead-up to the World’s most fabulous transgender beauty contest which this year features the first ever British entrant.

Tool designer Gavin is about to fulfil a life time’s ambition – to enter the final of ‘Miss International Queen', the Miss World event for transgender held in Thailand every year. Gavin, or Leah as his alter ego is called, will be the first ever British entrant and Miss England, but she will be up against some stiff competition. Unusually for a contestant, Gavin, has had no surgery and is heterosexual, and will be accompanied on the journey by his girlfriend Sue.

Tony Humphreys, MD of Talent Television says: “‘Mr Miss World’ is a fascinating story revealing what really lies behind the smiles and the dresses of the beauty queens. We hope it will have broad appeal for audiences worldwide.”
