|
London, 21 July 2005 - Talent Television, a wholly owned subsidiary of Talent Group plc, has been commissioned by the BBC to produce "How Euro Are You?", a new, primetime factual entertainment format for BBC Two.
Commissioned by BBC Two Controller Roly Keating, the 90-minute programme will be an interactive polling event, designed to reveal the extent and range of attitudes towards Europe and knowledge of all things European amongst the UK population. It will be presented by the BBC's Political Editor Andrew Marr.
"Our relationship with Europe is back at the heart of the news, so this feels like a timely and inventive way to find out what the UK really feels," said BBC Two Controller, Roly Keating.
The "How Euro Are You?" format was developed in-house by Talent and will be broadcast in early autumn. Alexandra Henderson who heads up Talent TV's events and special programming is executive producing the show.
As Editor Elections and Special programmes for the BBC Alexandra has held a number of senior positions in news and current affairs, from executive producer on Panorama to deputy head of political programmes. In 2001, Alexandra became the first woman to edit the BBC's election night results programme - Vote 2001, which received the prestigious RTS judges' award for outstanding contribution to television craft and design.
Tony Humphreys, Talent TV's Managing Director said, "We are delighted to be working with BBC Two for the first time. This new interactive polling event builds on the skill and expertise that we have built up during the long-running 'Test the Nation' series and this new format promises to be a success with viewers when it broadcasts later in the year. This commission demonstrates our continued progress in developing and owning original formats and programming."
Talent TV is rapidly establishing itself as the home of interactive formats in the UK. The BBC has shown a major commitment to the company's Rose D'or winning Test the Nation, commissioning the interactive event show up to 2006.
