productions An Audience without... Jeremy Beadle ![]() ITV 1 - Friday 16 May 2008 9:30-10:30pm ![]() A celebrity packed tribute to one of Britain's great TV entertainers. The show was presented by Chris Tarrant, in front of an audience of Beadle's friends, family, and a host of celebrities who knew him through his TV and charitable work.It was recorded in the very studio that many of the well-known Beadle shows had been made and it was in the tradition of the 'An Audience With...' format but was the first to celebrate a past life. Visitors to the ITV website were able to view many of the famous pranks from Beadle's About during April and vote for the top five. The winning five were shown during the show, including - inevitably - the famous alien landing in a back garden. The victim of that hoax, Janet Elford, was in the audience and recalled her experience.Tributes came from Sir Alan Sugar, who had partnered Jeremy for a celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and from Sir Terry Wogan. Henry Kelly, a colleague for many years, was in the studio to remember the shows they did together - and to have his tie cut off yet again, just for 'old ties sake' !Magic was included from Jeremy’s favourite magician Shahid Malik. Laurie Holloway conducted the audience in a rendition of his theme tune to Beadle's About. And one of the best known Game For A Laugh games was recreated with Zoe Salmon (from Blue Peter) and Duncan Goodhew - who reprised his role in the original game.Jeremy had set aside a good deal of his time to support a number of charities and the show included a film by Anneka Rice about his extensive charitable work, particularly for children suffering with leukemia. ![]() An Audience without...
